Osprey Area Information

Osprey, Florida is located in Sarasota County Florida. It is just south of Sarasota in what's referred to as "unincorporated" Sarasota County.
Osprey enjoys an average year-round temperature of 72 degrees and the waters in the Gulf will rise to a high of 89 degrees in the month of August. The winter low in Gulf waters averages about 70 degrees. Most of the year's average rainfall of 60 inches comes in the summer months.

There are two main attractions within the city. Historic Spanish Point is one of the original homesteads in Sarasota County where the buildings have been carefully restored. Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey has a number of recreational activities, as well as being a nature preserve where several thousand species call home. Bald eagles, bobcats, and alligators can all be seen in the park. There are fifteen miles of biking trails in Oscar Scherer Park, canoeing and kayaking, fishing, picnicking and camping. Osprey is located on the water, but all of the beaches here are private. However, nearby public beaches can be found at the south end of Casey Key in Nokomis or to the north on Siesta Key.
